Job description

As a Market Risk Management VP Equities at Barclays located in Mumbai, you will be an integral part of the Equity Market Risk Management team, overseeing trading desks across Structured Derivatives, Prime Financing, and other desks. Your role will involve providing independent information to enhance decision making and maintaining a control environment that aligns with regulatory objectives. You will also lead a team covering desks in other locations such as APAC, UK, and US. Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure daily signoff of risk, stress, VaR/SVaR figures for timely and accurate market risk capture and reporting. Collaborate with Risk colleagues to manage risk effectively by challenging stakeholders, escalating findings, and ensuring controlled risk taking in line with the Risk Appetite/Limit Framework. Build strong relationships across departments to ensure proper risk capture and problem‑solving. Leverage knowledge of equity markets and products to investigate risk and drive infrastructure upgrades and regulatory deliverables. Produce Primary and Secondary Stress outputs timely, investigate market risk changes, review VaR and non‑VaR limits, and support senior risk managers in identifying headline risks. Process and produce monthly Risk Not in VaR capitalization figures, ensuring full risk capture and completeness. Manage team expectations, training requirements, and handle Top‑Risks and market commentaries on rotation with Global Risk Managers. Qualifications RequiredMotivated self‑starter with the ability to operate independently. Proficiency in Excel and ability to evaluate basic Greek sensitivities. Educational background in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Risk, Finance, Business). Bachelor’s degree or CFA Level 2 candidate or charter and/or FRM certification. Sound knowledge of derivative markets, products, and pricing. Analytical and IT skills (Excel/VBA) to build tools for carrying out responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and ability to work in a team.
