The Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated investment professional to join our client's Climate Finance team in Mumbai. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in sourcing and structuring climate-focused debt transactions, directly driving the expansion of the firm's regional direct lending strategy. Deal Origination & Pipeline Generation Identify and secure premium investment prospects within Asia's climate-aligned sectors, including energy efficiency, e-mobility, and renewable energy. Cultivate robust networks with key ecosystem players, such as Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), corporate entities, platforms, and project developers. 2. End-to-End Deal Execution Direct comprehensive due diligence workflows encompassing technical, legal, operational, ESG, and financial evaluations. Develop intricate financial models, execute rigorous risk and credit analyses, and author detailed investment memos. Champion transactions through the Concept and Investment Committee approval phases. Oversee the final disbursement and legal closing mechanics for all approved deals. 3. Portfolio Management & Value Addition Actively track portfolio performance via management engagements, site inspections, and quarterly reviews utilizing early warning systems. Partner with portfolio companies to resolve operational challenges, elevate their ESG frameworks, and maximize their climate impact. Collaborate closely with internal Climate Advisory and Environmental & Social (E&S) teams to uphold rigorous impact standards. Assist in compiling essential documentation for auditors, Risk, and Valuation Committees, while providing operational support to internal credit risk and transaction teams. 4. Sector Intelligence & Market Analysis Monitor shifts in regulatory frameworks, policy updates, and market dynamics across target geographies. Evaluate competitive landscapes, energy transition pathways, and emerging climate technologies. Serve as the firm's ambassador at key regional seminars and industry conferences Candidate Profile & Qualifications Education: Advanced degree from a premier institution in finance, business administration, economics, or a comparable discipline. Experience: A minimum of 7 years in investment, finance, or consulting—strongly preferring candidates with a background in climate finance or renewable energyDeal Track Record: Proven history of executing debt or equity transactions, complemented by deep experience managing due diligence within emerging markets. Network: Extensive established relationships within the climate tech ecosystem across South and South-East Asia, coupled with strong relationship management and business development capabilities. Technical Skills: Exceptional accounting and financial modeling expertise, alongside strong analytical, writing, and presentation capabilities. Communication & Culture: Fluent in written and spoken English.
